THE WIGGLER
The Wiggler is a time-based interactive kinetic installation that presents the two-dimensional ogival pattern commonly found in printed and woven textiles as a large scale four-dimensional experience. The audience sets the design in motion by turning the crank to spin shaped steel rods, building speed to create an optical illusion, turning a stationary striped wave pattern into a three dimensional ogee pattern.
In collaboration with Michael Jones, with thanks to Uli Thie, Angus Donaldson and Ken Howe of the 3D Workshop, and Harry Iliffee and Craig Holbern, Fablab Wellington.
The Wiggler was exhibited as part of Lux Light Festival, Wellington, 2017.
